Mt.Zion Apostolic Church of Christ is a small family church with roots as far back as 1993. They moved to a new building located in Northern Liberties, and requested an entire branding overhaul that addressed their outdated marketing processes, and lack of a cohesive brand, marketing strategy and digital presence. They wanted their new branding to be fresh, contemporary, and able to convey their message to the new community thatchy where joining. Lastly, they wanted digital marketing tools that efficiently captured visitor data and sets them on a path to engagement, fellowship and ultimately, membership.
We deconstructed the church's brand assets and rebuilt them all to work together cohesively with standardized color patterns, fonts, print marketing and digital graphics, and put everything together inside of a new brand guidelines handbook that would guide their branding decisions moving forward.
We kept the existing church logo and moved straight into performing type studies to determine the proper fonts to represent the church’s brand. The fonts that were chosen are modern, yet not trendy, which is what we felt best fit the desired look and feel for the brand. The Ranille font was chosen as the primary font due to its exaggerated ligature style and thick modern design that speaks to a sense of formality while maintaining a level of creativity that isn’t usually visible in a traditional serif font.
Babicho was chosen as the secondary font due to its contrast to Ranille, with its super slender letter design and staccato nature of each letter. Together, they complement each other and achieve the branding direction that was desired. Arial Regular rounded out the font choices and is used for all paragraphs and non-headline content.
Our goal was to build a website that could serve several critical functions for the church:
Dynamic video content at the top of pages that grabs attention
We built an intuitive sermon interface where each sermon is labeled with searchable tags, including preacher name, sermon topic, bible verses, and date. This makes the content easily discoverable and allows users to choose sermons based off of their individual needs or preferences
We built forms that allow users to send requests directly to the church. This makes communication more efficient, and allows the church to capture user data and grow their contact list for future outreach and nurture campaigns.
We put an emphasis on creating a uniform branded approach for all of their digital platforms, which included standardized headshots. The final deliverables was a headshot of each clergy member and ministerial staff that will be used for graphics, website content or media kits.

The church typically kept their membership contact information in legal pads or saved within the phones of the Bishop and Pastor. This obviously put a bottleneck on the churches ability to maintain accurate membership records or even communicate to its members en masse.
We installed a CRM that collects contact information from visitors and members which provides them much more accurate data on the many demographics within the church body.
